“Khao Hom Ruam Jai” prospers through the collaboration of locals of Takram-Ain, Mueang Tha Phra Taen municipal area, Tha Maka district, Kanchanaburi. Each bag of Khao Hom Ruam Jai offers the best and most auspicious organic rice of all. Its production relies on the well-selected 105th of 199 ears of paddy that His Majesty the King wishes to preserve on grounds of their excellent quality. Of the 199 ears, the 105th is regarded as the best. On the 12th August or the National Mother’s Day each year, local farmers in the Takram-Ain thus sow the seeds of the 105th to start their farming season. In a way of organic agriculture, all farming techniques must be chemical free, thanks to SCG Paper providing organic fertilizer that is made of scrap materials from its manufacturing line. Moreover, beautiful ancient rituals like ‘Kwan Khao’ ceremony or tradition of pounding unripe rice or Khao Mao are conducted to bless the crop and to carry on the traditions. Local farmers harvest their rice on the 5th December or the National Father’s Day every year, and their crops are sold to generate income for their families.
All in all, SCG Paper is proud of being an important role in supporting the sustainable living of local people, which are like our neighbors.
